SUPPORT FOR EVERY SEASON

Therapy can be a place to learn more about yourself, help you through a difficult challenge or season, or provide another perspective on those problems that just keep showing up. I’d love the opportunity to support you.

Although I can support folks who struggle with a wide variety of challenges, I have some special knowledge and expertise in working with people who identify as high-achievers, perfectionists, or people pleasers.

THERAPY FOR HIGH-ACHIEVERS

As a former gifted kid and Rice University alumna, I know all too well the pressures and struggles that can come with achieving at a high level. You desperately want a break or to slow down, but with what time? What if it all comes crashing down? You could be already experiencing burnout or maybe you’re just starting to get a little crispy. Let’s work together to help you find a new, more sustainable lifestyle.

YOU MAY BENEFIT FROM THERAPY IF YOU EXPERIENCE:

  • Feeling really uncomfortable when someone points out your success (or failure. Or anything about you, frankly.)

  • Symptoms of burnout, like intense fatigue, inability to start or follow through, feeling uninspired or overwhelmed

  • Wondering if you even count as a high-achiever

  • Intense fear of failure, making mistakes, or not getting it quite right

  • Difficulty calling a task or project “finished” because you know it could be better

  • Avoiding new opportunities for growth that may feel too risky

THERAPY FOR PERFECTIONISTS

Perfectionism is sneaky. It tells such a seductive story, that if we just keep working harder, we really can get things completely perfect. Nice, neat, beautiful. The thing is, though, we’re imperfect beings living in an imperfect world.

If you find yourself saying any version of “I know, BUT” to that last sentence, I’d love to talk more.

YOU MAY BENEFIT FROM THERAPY IF YOU EXPERIENCE:

  • Unrealistically high expectations of yourself and/or others

  • A dip in respect for someone who makes a typo (especially if that someone is yourself)

  • Realizing that there’s no such thing as perfection, but somehow expecting it anyway

  • Difficulty relaxing or having fun

  • Lying awake at night unable to turn off your brain

  • Questioning if you’re even a perfectionist because you have difficulty starting and/or following through

  • Procrastination (yes, there is a relationship between perfectionism and procrastination, and I’d love to tell you more about it)

THERAPY FOR PEOPLE PLEASERS

You’re so good at figuring out what other people need, sometimes even before they know it. People look to you when they need something handled or something has fallen through the cracks. You’re an amazing listener and love to go above and beyond for those who are important to you. But you sometimes find yourself wishing for rest (or even getting a little upset that nobody is taking care of you). You feel like your cup is running dry. I can help fill your cup and teach you how to get what you need, too.

YOU MAY BENEFIT FROM THERAPY IF YOU EXPERIENCE:

  • Constantly worrying about letting people down

  • Knowing other people’s needs better than your own

  • Difficulty speaking up for yourself or giving your opinion

  • Deeply afraid of criticism

  • Never taking vacation or sick time, or feeling guilty when you do

  • Frequent apologizing

  • Obsessing about what others are thinking about you

  • Feeling like you don’t deserve care when you do get it

Let’s get started.
